Bar Codes Made Easy!

To use the Bar Code software module, along with DesignMerge, to create variable bar codes, you must have a field in a database that contains the bar code data. In the DesignMerge program, you will create a DesignMerge Variable Link that maps to that field in the database, then you are ready to go!

The DesignMerge Variable Link is easily defined by selecting the appropriate “keyword Link” from the supplied list in the DesignMerge Variable Links dialog box:

In the Variable Links dialog box, choose "New."
You will be presented with the dialog box above.

Select the appropriate keyword link from the list that is presented, as shown above.

Click "OK" to return to the Variable Links dialog box where you will see
the new variable bar code link listed in the variable links Names list.

After creating the variable bar code link, you can apply it to your document in the normal fashion, as show below:

After inserting a bar code link, you must also apply the appropriate bar code font to the link. When you merge data, the appropriate bar code translation and character mapping will be applied to the incoming data, which will then be placed into the document, as demonstrated below:
