Xerox VIPP Driver

Finally, there is a true graphical user interface for Xerox VIPP (formerly known as XGF). Meadows has developed a set of output drivers specifically for Xerox VIPP that allow you to quickly create all of the files necessary for any VIPP implementation. These files include the Database Master (DBM), Job Descriptor Ticket (JDT), Database File (DBF), and the PostScript Master Form (Background). All of the VIPP files were created with the DesignMerge™ XTension™ to QuarkXPress®. They are complete, well structured, commented and include full font and color definition tables. The files can be run as is, or can be edited and "tweaked" to support more advanced VIPP features such as conditional logic.

VIPP Made Easy!

To create a VIPP job, just use DesignMerge as you normally would to identify variable data fields in a QuarkXPress document. You can preview the data on-screen, or send a merged piece off to a laser printer for proofing. When you are ready, just select Xerox VIPP as the DesignMerge output driver of choice, and in a matter of seconds you have everything you need to begin your VIPP print run. Includes Pre-Flight and Image Scaling Features

Also included in the VIPP driver package is a picture pre-flight feature that will automatically scale and crop images to fit into a particular area in advance of running the VIPP job. This saves you image editing time, and also allows you to work with any image file format supported by QuarkXPress (JPEG, etc.) rather than limiting usage to just EPS or TIFF. Beyond that, our DBF generator will organize your database fields and ensure that the ordering is correct and that missing or empty fields are accounted for. You can also use this feature to create small, sample DBF files containing only a few database records which is ideal for testing your VIPP jobs.

Built-In Support for Data-Driven Graphics

Using our DesignMerge VIPP utilities, you can easily create any data-driven graphic that is supported by Xerox VIPP (bar charts, line charts and pie charts). To use this feature, just drag out a picture box to identify where on the page you would like the data-driven graphic to appear. Then, use the DesignMerge interface to specify the database fields and colors that will comprise the chart. Click a button and a preview of your DDG will appear on the page, identifying the box as being marked for DDG export when the VIPP files are created.

Use the DesignMerge interface to specify where data-driven graphics
should appear in your QuarkXPress layout.

Output Drivers Available for Color and Monochrome Printers

Separate output drivers are provided for both DocuColor systems (2000/70/100), as well as "generic" VIPP/XGF systems such as the DocuTech and DocuPrint product line. Adobe Acrobat proofing of VIPP output files is also supported.
