Q. A message is displayed that there are too many copies running.
A. This message means that there are more copies running on your network than the number of licenses that you have purchased. To see the number of copies that are currently running, you can download and install a FREE copy of the NetworkChecker XTension for QuarkXPress. The Network Checker will list information about all of the XTensions modules that are currently running on your network, including the user's name and, if available, the name of the computer where each module is running. To determine the number of copies to which you are entitled, please refer to your installation package. At this time we do not have this utility available for OS X systems. Q. A message is displayed that the security key is missing.
A. This message is displayed when the security key is not properly installed. First, confirm that you have installed the security key on the correct port. It should be installed on the same port where it was installed when you activated it. If the key is installed on the correct port, confirm that you have installed its necessary drivers. For information on how to install these drivers, please see the ReadMe file in the Software Security Support folder in your installation files.
Q. Is there a USB security key (dongle) for DesignMerge for Windows?
A. No, we regret that we are unable to provide a USB security key at this time.
Q. Nothing seems to happen when I double-click or run the Setup.exe file for the security hardware key (dongle) for DesignMerge for Windows.
A. Unfortunately this setup.exe installation application does not display any progress or completion information, so it may appear as though nothing has happened. However, software that will enable the key to work, was installed. For additional information, please see the ReadMe file in the Software Security Support folder in your installation files.
Q. I am having problems loading DesignMerge for Windows; what do I do?
A. When loading DesignMerge software on a Windows machine, you get an error similar to the following:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated. If the program consistently encounters problems, click the Start button, The program tried to execute an invalid instruction. Fault Location: 1623:0099 Interrupts in service: None |
Our software runs within QuarkXPress. None of our software - with the possible exception of electronically-delivered archives and installers - runs under MS-DOS, as indicated in the text of the message above. The best thing to do is to get a clean copy of the software from the archive file or CD-ROM, read all instructions regarding installation, and try to install the software again.
It is possible that our software is producing an error message if it is causing a crash within QuarkXPress, and then quitting back out to the Windows desktop. Please see our FAQ on trouble-shooting “XTensions that are not working.”
If QuarkXPress is having this error with or without our XTension software loaded, then the problem is with the install of Windows or QuarkXPress on your workstation. It may be necessary to reinstall either one. Please consult your hardware vendor for more information on troubleshooting your system.
Q. When launching QuarkXPress a message is displayed that DesignMerge or one of its modules cannot be loaded because this is the wrong version of QuarkXPress, or that the XTensions cannot load because they are not compatible with that version of QuarkXPress.
A. This message may be displayed for one of two reasons:
1) DesignMerge has been installed in a non-supported version of QuarkXPress. Contact our Sales department at (847) 882-8202 or toll-free at (888) 983-6746 for more information.
2) You have installed a previously activated copy of the software in a copy of QuarkXPress other than the one where it was originally activated. Remove all of the DesignMerge XTensions modules from your QuarkXPress XTension folder (do not put them in the XTensions Disable folder or in the QuarkXPress application folder). Reinstall DesignMerge from the original installation files.
3) DesignMerge requires a security dongle to be inserted on a USB port on the workstation running the software. Please ensure that the installer in the USB Security Key directory in the download or on the release disk has been run before attempting to load the software.
Q. A message is displayed that a demo version has expired.
A. Once the demo version of DesignMerge or any of its optional modules has expired, you will no longer be able to use that software module. To purchase one or more copies that will not expire, contact our Sales department at (847) 882-8202 or toll-free at (888) 983-6746.
Q. What are the limitations of the DesignMerge demo software?
A. While using DesignMerge in Demo Mode, your database is limited to containing no more than 25 records and your documents are limited to no more than 25 variable links. Otherwise, your demo copy of DesignMerge is a fully-functional copy of the software than can demonstrate all of its features.

Q. Are the tutorials and manuals available in other languages?
A. No, we are sorry but the tutorials and manuals are only available in English.
Q. Are there different versions of the tutorials and manuals for the Windows version of DesignMerge and its companion modules?
A. No, we are sorry but we are only able to provide one version of these documents. We try to ensure that the interface is consistent between the different versions of the software, so the commands and functions will be located in the same place and display in the same manner on both systems. If there is something that you do not understand about the Windows version of the software, please send an email to our support department and we are happy to clarify this for you.
