DesignMerge FAQs
Display Problems
Q. Data Preview is not displaying the data in some links in my document.
A. There are a couple of situations that will cause data to not display. a) Links whose data contain XPress Tags cannot display the data correctly unless you have the XPress Tags Filter XTensions for QuarkXPress installed, and have checked the Use XPress Tags option for the Variable Links that need to interpret XPress Tags. b) If the Variable Link has been set to "Delete if Empty" and the current record being merged into the link does not have any data in the field assigned to this link, then the Data Preview will allow that link to be deleted from the layout. It is important in an instance like that to revert to the saved version of your document after doing the Data Preview.
Q. My computer isn't displaying the DesignMerge floating palette.
A. Perhaps it is being displayed on a non-visible portion of your desktop. To return it to its default position, choose Hide Palette from the View submenu in the DesignMerge menu. Next, hold down the Command key (the Control key in Windows) while choosing Show Palette from the View submenu. The DesignMerge palette will be displayed in its default position in the upper-left corner of the screen.
If the DesignMerge palette is still not visible, then you are most likely experiencing an XTensions conflict. To troubleshoot XTensions conflicts, please see the instructions posted on our website at:
