Q. How can I download the free XTensions for QuarkXPress from your website?
A. Our free Utility Bundle software is available by form-submission from our free software request form. After you have completed and submitted the form, you will receive an email that contains a link to the software, and an activation code. Download the software and install it in the XTension folder within your copy of QuarkXPress. When it launches, you will be directed to enter the activation code from the email message that you received.
Q. Is the free software available for Windows, as well as the Macintosh version of QuarkXPress?
A. No, the Utility Bundle software is not available for the Windows versions of QuarkXPress.
Q. I received the Free Utility Bundle email, but there was no attachment.
A. The free software is not attached to the email that is generated by our request form; the email contains a link to the download archive on our ftp site, and an activation code for the software. The activation code must be entered the first time that QuarkXPress is launched after installing the Utility Bundle software. It will only operate if a valid activation code has been entered. This code can only be obtained by entering a valid email address in the free software request form on our website.
Although we do not add the attachment with the software directly to the outgoing email from the website, it is still possible for a spam filter to flag that message incorrectly. The result is that the user never receives an email. Please validate your email program to receive email from meadowsps.com and rcn.com and visit the form on our website again. We appreciate your patience.
Q. What are you going to do with my email address?
A. Periodically we will use the email addresses submitted to us for news and product announcements, only within our organization. Please reply to unwanted messages with REMOVE in the header and you will be removed from the mailing list.
Email list management is sometimes difficult. We have recently subscribed to a third-party service to manage our mailings, which includes a feature that ensures that removed email addresses are not sent to once the removal has been submitted. Please follow directions available at the top or the bottom of any message you receive from us, as to how to remove your email from our list. We apologize for any instances in the past where removed emails were still getting sent. We have been very concerned about this in the past, and are trying to ensure that removed emails never get sent to again.
Q. I have installed the Utility Bundle software, but when I launch the program, nothing happens.
A. If you are running a 68k (non-PPC) version of QuarkXPress 3.32, then the XTensions will not activate within your application, as the software is only compatible with PowerPC native versions of QuarkXPress. If you are running a PowerPC version of QuarkXPress, the XTensions may not be installed within the active XTensions folder within that copy of QuarkXPress.
Q. When QuarkXPress is launched, I receive an error message: "Too many copies of (Meadows Software) are already running."
A. This message means that there are more copies running on your network than the number of licenses that you have purchased. To see the number of copies that are currently running, you can download and install a FREE copy of the NetworkChecker XTension for QuarkXPress. The Network Checker will list information about all of the XTensions modules that are currently running on your network, including the user's name and, if available, the name of the computer where each module is running.
