	Unicode Support DesignMerge Pro software now supports UTF-8 Unicode text while continuing to support the ability to import ASCII text. The DesignMerge Database Definitions now have a new "Data Type" setting where you can indicate whether the database file contains UTF-8 or ASCII data. Also, the Quick Setup feature will automatically detect when a database file is a UTF-8 text file if the file includes the UTF-8 BOM (Byte Order Mark). 	2D Bar Code Support The Meadows 2D Bar Code Module for Adobe InDesign allows you to create fully variable 2D bar codes, including QR Code, Data Matrix, and PDF417. When used in conjunction with DesignMerge, the Meadows 2D Bar Code Module allows you to create variable 2D bar codes based on data taken from a database field. Custom Price Styles The Meadows Price Style Module for Adobe InDesign adds the ability to set up and apply custom formats for variable prices. This feature is essential for Catalogs, Store Signage and other POP material where special price styling is required. Additionally, by using the Smart Price™ option, Price Styles can be set up to format prices conditionally, based on value. The Price Style Module has been fully integrated with DesignMerge, which will apply the assigned Price Style to the variable prices on-the-fly while merging. Looking for a preflight/preview tool for DesignMerge PPML output?

For those searching for a PPML production preflight or preview tool, you may wish to consider PODi's CheckPPML software.

CheckPPML converts PPML output to a PDF file that contains the same output pages as those that would be produced by a PPML Certified printing device. This allows you to preview and validate PPML output before printing.

CheckPPML is an excellent choice to preview DesignMerge PPML output since both CheckPPML and DesignMerge support the GA (Graphic Arts) subset of PPML (Personalized Print Markup Language), an XML-based industry standard printer language for variable data printing, defined by PODi.

¬ÝCheckPPML can be installed on a Macintosh as well as on a Windows system, and is available in two versions, a free standard version and a professional version.

• CheckPPML (standard) is free but limited to 100 pages.
• CheckPPML Pro is not free but runs faster and does not have a page number limit.
