Schaumburg, IL– September 8, 2011– Meadows Publishing Solutions today announced that DesignMerge Pro Variable Data Printing software is now available for Adobe InDesign CS5.5 for both Macintosh and Windows platforms, and includes several new features. The software will be demonstrated in booth #352 at the Graph Expo show, September 11-14, 2011 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.

The latest release of DesignMerge for Adobe InDesign supports the following new features:.

Fully-Variable, 2D Bar Code Support – The updated version of this optional module allows the user to create one-off or fully variable QR Code, Data Matrix, or PDF417 bar codes directly in any InDesign document. This is a great option for everything from PURL’s to POP material. The new version now works with DesignMerge rules, allowing the user to customize QR Code colors based upon user-defined criteria. Unicode Support – In addition to ASCII text and ODBC, DesignMerge Pro software now supports Unicode text. The DesignMerge setup includes a new "Data Type" setting where the user can indicate whether the database file contains Unicode or ASCII data. Also, the DesignMerge “Quick Setup” feature has been modified to automatically detect when a database file is in Unicode format. Price Styling Module – The new Meadows Price Style Module for Adobe InDesign adds the ability to set up and apply custom formats for variable prices. This feature is essential for Catalogs, Store Signage and other POP material where special price styling is required. Additionally, by using the Smart Price™ option, Price Styles can be set up to format prices conditionally, based on value. The Price Style Module has been fully integrated with DesignMerge, which will apply the assigned Price Style to the variable prices on-the-fly while merging.
